The James Witte Memorial Fund: Stop the Demand

In Loving Memory of James Witte

Oct 04, 2024 | BY TOMAS LARES

James “Jimmy” Witte’s life was one of dedication, service, and a passion for justice. Born in New Jersey to Walter and Caroline Witte, he made his mark as a United States Air Force Staff Sergeant and later as a Supervisor with the U.S. Postal Service. James’ love for God’s creation was only surpassed by his devotion to his wife, Teresa Dailey, his family, and his Savior, Yeshua Jesus.

On September 25, 2024, James went to be with his Lord, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and selfless commitment to combating human trafficking.

A Legacy of Freedom and Justice

James worked hand-in-hand with Tomas J. Lares, Founder of United Abolitionists, to expand the organization’s reach and impact. His efforts helped develop national resources, including the Florida-based human trafficking hotline and Orlando International Airport’s ‘soft room’ for victims. His influence was crucial in creating educational modules designed to train professionals in the hospitality, tourism, and transportation industries on how to spot and report human trafficking.

To honor his life and passion, we have named our 2025 legislative initiative in his memory: The James Witte Stop the Demand. This initiative is aimed at mobilizing men and women across the country to take a pledge against fueling the demand for sex trafficking. Both Men and Women will commit to not participating in, promoting, or turning a blind eye to the exploitation of others. This crucial effort will lead the charge for legislative action and cultural change, empowering men and women to take an active role in abolishing modern-day slavery.

How You Can Help

In lieu of flowers, gifts, or cards, James’ family has asked for donations to United Abolitionists. Your generosity will directly contribute to our mission of ending human trafficking and ensuring that victims receive the help they need. Donations will be used to fund our 2025 legislative campaign, as well as vital services such as emergency hotlines, victim rehabilitation, and training programs.
